Radiation Safety Training – NSW

Safe use of Neutron Moisture/Density Gauges

The Course is designed for anyone using a portable moisture/density gauge. These gauges use an advanced micro-processor-based technology to provide highly-accurate measurements of density and moisture of soils, and asphalt, and incorporate one or more radioactive sources. Responsibility for operating these machines would include transporting, and storing.
The proposed course dates for 2017 are:
  • Wednesday 8th March
  • Wednesday 12th July

The course will include basic radiation safety training in the following:
  • The Scientific Background
  • Units of Measurement
  • Biological Effects
  • Radiation Protection Philosophy and Standards

  • Safe storage and transport
  • Course notebook provided
  • 40 minute open-book assessment at conclusion of course
