RadTest News – Community Involvement
RadTest was proud to be invited to the Confident Job Seeker Program Careers Expo on Monday 8th May, 2017 This was held at the Diamond Creek Community Bank Stadium and involved local businesses and Year 10 students from Diamond Valley College The Expo gave students the opportunity to speak to real employers to get a sense of what the industry is really like and pathways to work in the industry, gave students a real sense of what jobs are on offer in the immediate area so they can consider working locally and give employers contact with real students so they can look to employing more local students – opening up opportunities for Work Experience, Part Time and Full Time employment. Staff from RadTest were able to describe to students how the compliance testing program operates in Victoria and other other states, the importance of radiation safety and gave a general overview of the medical imaging and diagnostic radiology industry. Some of the students were very keen in medical imaging and health physics areas and were excited to see that there are links to those industries in their local area. Thank you to the team at Valley Community Financial Services Limited and Hurstbridge, Diamond Creek, Eltham,

Recent Changes to Radiation Assessment Reports and Certificates – Victoria
Did you know???? The Radiation Safety Department will now allow Approved Testers to issue a compliance certificate for new equipment, when the source reference number is not available. Testers can do this by using the “Authorisation Number”, listed in the left column of the Schedule 2, in conjunction with the Manufacturer, Model name or number and x-ray tube serial number. Management licence holders will need to supply this information to Approved Testers prior to the completion of the radiation assessment report. It is therefore advisable for management licence holders to apply to vary the management licence as soon as possible, if you intend to change the scope of your practice, such as the number or types of radiation sources involved. The application must be approved by the Department, and therefore an Authorisation Number issued, before the proposed changes occur. Also, a shielding report and evidence of shielding may be required, whether it is a new or existing room. It is an offence against the Radiation Act for a management licence holder to take possession of a new radiation source before that activity has been authorised in their licence.
